Altcar Rifle Ranges. Situated in Hightown near Formby in Merseyside, Altcar Rifle ranges consists of 620 acres of beaches, marshland, fields and small woods. It is unusual in being the only range in the UK owned and run by the Territorial Army. Ranges vary from 100 to 1,000 yards and facilities are good with a bar that serves drinks and snacks, ample parking and most ranges having their own loos.
